Article 3: Council
Officers
Section 1: Selection Of
Officers
Officers will
be elected by the Chapters council as a whole after each election cycle. Each
newly elected council may choose to create new officers or redistribute the
functions they carry out at the start of each term. Several duplicate officers
may be elected to carry out the same functions on separate days, weeks, or
months. The following officers are recommended for the first Chapter's Council.
Each newly
elected Chapter's Council will have one week after the start of their term to
determine whether or not they wish to modify the number and functions of
council officers. Any motions and votes relevant to officer positions will be
conducted based on a one full calendar day time limit for seconding, amending,
and voting. All other rules for motions will apply aside from these exceptions.
Additional officer and/or staff positions may be added at other times through
the normal motion process with a simple majority of the council required for
passage. Once the list of officers is settled there will be one week to make
nominations. Any seconded nomination places a candidate on the ballot.
Nominations
and/or seconds may be made to the council as a whole or to the Ombudsman
elected by the previous council. If more than one candidate for a position is
nominated at the end of the nomination period a web-based election will be held
for that position over the next 48 hours. If no candidate receives a majority
of the vote, the top 50 percent (rounded up) will face off again.
This cycle
will be repeated until one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote.
