Meeting #7 - January 9, 1999

MINUTES FROM JANUARY MEETING
By V. Mark Tye, Secretary

The monthly chapter meeting of the Mars Society Puget Sound took place January 9, 1999 at
Speakeasy Café, 2304 2nd Ave, Seattle, WA starting at 2:00 pm.

The following seven individuals were in attendance:

Terry Bacon	David Stuart
Jim Burk	Mark Tye
Dustin Green	Chris Vancil
Randy Rumley

We would like to extend a warm welcome to newcomer Terry Bacon who managed to track us
down and attend one of our meetings for the first time. Terry donated a printed copy and
disk of mars information and resources which he has been working on for many years. It's
about 450k in size and we will put it on our web site. This makes a nice addition to our
library.

Thank you, Terry, and we hope to see you on a regular basis. (And thanks again for
helping us out at RustyCon!)

The Mars Society Puget Sound chapter election results were distributed and the officers are:

President Jim Burk
Vice President Dustin Green
Secretary V. Mark Tye
Treasurer David Stuart

Most of the meeting involved working out details for the RustyCon science fiction
convention by those individuals making presentations. The main concerns were the
availability of overhead projectors, podiums, tables, and what the place/time was for
the Mars lecture. We also talked about the manning of tables, obtaining Mars Society
brochures, and materials on display at our table.

Jim has 6 pages of a lecture script on Mars exploration. Chris has some visuals for this
and will cover Mars Direct and the Mars Society. Terry will also provide some material
(slides)

Meeting with our political representatives is to be one of our main projects throughout
the rest of the year.

The next chapter meeting will be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, Feb. 20, at the
Speakeasy Café again, starting at 2pm.
