The full text of the first chapter of "The Case for Mars", by Mars Society President/bestselling author/engineer Robert Zubrin. But not the last words, or Chapter. The Hakluyt Prize is a yearly contest staged by the Society, in which persons aged at or between 12 and 22 (Earth) years send letters rationalizing Mars exploration and encouraging national participation to world leaders. The 1999 Hakluyt Prize was won by Katherine Harris, a TO-Mars Chapter member. Chapter member Audrey Robinson-Seurig has crafted a song entitled "Sailing on a Spaceship to Mars" for the Society's Rouget De Lisle Award contest. Chapter member Raakesh Persaud has written a piece entitled "The Grandeur of Mars". |
