MarsSpectacular ! Star Party on Mars, only 6 to 7 hours drive by car from Albuquerque, everyone is welcome !! The Mars Society is organizing this party to coincide with THE closest approach of Mars in our lifetime, at the MDRS. For detailed directions and info click here

August 27, 2003

On August 27 of 2003, Mars will be the closest to Earth that is has been in 60,000 years! Never before in recorded history has this mysterious planet been so close, and it won't be this close again in our lifetime. The Planetary Society has declared this as a Mars Day and is organizing observing events worldwide. Also, Celestron has prepared a site to provide information on the upcoming opposition and to give some tips on how to get the best views of this historic event.
