Source: Mars Society, www.marssociety.org
A joint study conducted by NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) shows that a humans to Mars program based on the Mars Direct mission plan is affordable with every additional human mission after the initial development cost of 26-40 billion dollars, costing ONLY 7 billion dollars (just 9 times the cost of Spirit and Oppurtunity, but with the human team being 100s of times faster !).

The New Mexico Mars Society is the New Mexico chapter of The Mars Society. Our goal is to encourage the participation of the local population of the state of New Mexico and to help them organize and link to The Mars Society members in USA and all over the world . We have monthly meetings and various public outreach events such as exhibitions about Mars and The Mars Society at various space related events in New Mexico. We are also involved in the local lobbying efforts with our local law-makers/representatives by actively lobbying for increased American role in the exploration of the Red Planet, Mars and the eventual visit and colonization by Humans to create a second living World for humanity and life.
