Our chapter takes the lead in producing Ares, the Mars Society's CD-Rom journal and multimedia title.

We offer past issues of Ares for sale directly from our chapter. In most cases, Mars Society members can purchase them at a discount, and also at cost if purchased in bulk.

Ares #1: Premiere Issue (shipped in August 1999)

The first issue of Ares was produced in time for the 2nd Annual Mars Society convention. It contains a forward by Dr. Robert Zubrin, President of the Mars Society, the Official Mars Society slide show & script, a video trailer for the upcoming SimMars game from Maxis, Chapter One of the Case for Mars, and the Founding Declaration of the Mars Society.

System Requirements: Windows 95/98 or NT4.0, Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 5.0 included on CD), CD-Rom drive. No Internet connection or modem required. Mac users can browse the files on the CD but the menu systems will not work.

Ares #2: Learning About Mars (expected to ship January 2000)

The second issue of Ares is focused on educational outreach. It contains Mars and space curriculum gathered by the Mars Society's Educational Task Force, as well as background information gathered by MarsNews.com, a Clickable Mars Atlas from NASA/Ames, Screensavers from the MarsDVD, a complete archive of all Mars Society special bulletins, and much more.
