The mouse hab section will become home to a pair of mice, who will help keep the CO2 levels up. This hab will consist of an exercise wheel and small sleeping "cozy." Two female mice will be used, as the ladies are less inclined to fight than their male counterparts. The floor of the mouse hab will consist of a plastic "egg-carton" light fixture material, that allows for the mouse droppings to fall below the hab into a space where they will be periodically flushed and ground up back into the nutrient solution. A small X-10 video camera will allow for visual monitoring of the Martian Mice. |
