Chicago
Eurohab Visits Chicago

by Bill Mania

In May of 2002 members of the Chicago Chapter assisted with the
construction of the EuroHab in front of Adler Planetarium in Chicago.
Over the course of the summer, the EuroHab was open to the public and
the Chicago Chapter provided staff for the EuroHab. In early September
of 2002 the Chicago Chapter will assist with the disassembly of the
EuroHab.

Members of the Chicago Chapter are beginning a program of robotics
research and development. The objective of the project is to use off the
shelf, household robotics components and member expertise to learn more
about Mars applicable robotics systems. Since there are no robotics
"experts" in the Chapter, the project is being used as a means to learn
more about robotics in a hands-on setting. The Chapter will be
developing its own software for the robot projects and will be looking
for emergent behaviours.
