My heart goes out to all involved in the space program touched by this tragedy. I only hope that we can convince our lawmakers that this is the not the time to return to the past, but instead time to look towards the future and increase our pace and spending in space, as I am sure everyone lost on Columbia would have wanted. Imagine we had a fully functional International space station with a shuttle inspection and repair module... Each time a shuttle went up, it would be routine to check for damage and repair it on the spot prior to the shuttle returning to Earth.
