Loss and Endeavor
Thoughts on the Loss of the Columbia

I am not an engineer, nor a scientist but I have dreamed with many
others of space travel and Mars was just one major step. Our space program has been slow over the many years and the loss of lives have been minimal compared to what we have to gain. For every major endeavor we have done, from building bridges to nuclear submarines lives have been lost, but never the dreams. My heart and prayers goes out to the families of the Columbia crew for I know their pain, sorrow and loss. The dream should not end with this tragedy but carried on for them. You can relay this message on for there is so much to be learned and their lives were not lost in vain. I am hoping this improves our space program, but no matter what we will still lose lives. This is a part of life, to learn, to live dreams and sometimes die for them, but they still go on.

I became part of the Mars Society because of this lithograph done in
1960 by Paul Rossi for the then Martin Company. I hope you enjoy the attached photo of it. I may try to make the VIP night and will bring the lithograph along. I'm not sure though.

Thank you for letting me be part of this dream,

Fay Vaszlavik
