How can I tell if I have Web Folders installed already?
Web Folders appear in Windows Explorer under "My Computer", usually just below the Scheduled Tasks folder (see right).

If you do not have Web Folders install, follow the instructions below to install the Web Folders option in IE5.

How long will it take?
There are several small, quick installation and configuration steps, each one taking only a few seconds. The only step that will take a few minutes is Step Six, the download and install of the Microsoft Web Folders option for IE5, which, if you need it, will require five minutes or more, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

Step 1 — Control Panel
Open the Control Panel by clicking on your "Start" button, and then choosing Settings > Control Panel.

Step 2 — Add/Remove Programs
In the Control Panel window double-click Add/Remove Programs.

Step 3 — Select IE5 and Internet Tools
In the Add/Remove programs dialog box scroll down until you see the entry for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. Click on the entry to highlight, and then click the Add/Remove Program button on the bottom right side of the dialog box.

Step 4 — Add Component to IE5
Select "Add a component" and click "Ok".

Step 5 — Select "Web Folders"
Scroll through the list of installable components and select "Web Folders" by clicking on its checkbox, then continue by clicking "Next". Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive to install the Web Folders component, which requires about 3.3 megabytes of drive space.

Step 6 — Download and Install
Wait for the Windows Update download to complete.

Step 7 — Complete Installation
When download and installation is complete click on "Finish" to return to your desktop. The Microsoft Web Folders component is now installed.
